Not much of an update today- for the most part I’ve been in the car, doing the 300-odd mile journey from Reine back to Kiruna in Sweden. I left Reine early, and the weather was still pretty blustery

The rain continued pretty much most of the way until I was past Abisko in Sweden when the skies finally cleared up, so the last hour of the trip was in some nice sunshine. The final few clouds provided a couple of nice photo opportunities when the sun burst through, and there was also a brief rainbow over the lake.

I checked in to my hotel for tonight, and then went for a little walk around Kiruna. It’s a mining town- in fact the largest Iron Ore mine in the world is here, so the western side of town is a massive quarry/hill with lots of industry around. The town itself has a distinctive little church – in 2001 it was apparently voted the most beautiful public building in Sweden (by Swedish people). It’s ok I guess.

Anyway, that’s it. My flight back to Stockholm departs at 6:05 so it’s an early alarm tomorrow.
