I’ll split today’s update into two parts, as there’s lots of pictures, and I want to go to bed!
Today we woke up quite late, needed a catch up after a couple of nights of no sleep, obviously! So late, we missed the hotel breakfast so we went downstairs to the mall. While there, I checked out the sweets to take back home for work and found some dodgy looking dried fish candy – enjoy, folks!

These were in the sweets section but are actually candied dried fish, I think. I bought some for work.
Next up we headed to Chinatown and the first thing we found, oddly enough, was a Hindu temple- Sri Mariamman Temple. It’s Singapore’s oldest Hindu temple and classed as a national monument. We had to take our shoes off before entering though…
Lots of ornate sculptures in here, a selection of shots below:
After that, we headed down the side streets in to Chinatown “proper”. As expected, there’s plenty of cheap shops selling fun things, including the two dollar shop where nothing was two dollars:
Next, we grabbed some food and walked around a little more
Finally, we headed off to Thian Hock Keng temple, just outside of the main Chinatown area. Also a national monument, this translates as the temple of heavenly happiness. Some more photos:
That’s it for now- the rest of the day, we went to the bay gardens and walked back through the bay area at night, but that’ll be in update 2 tomorrow.
